Items of Interest 1

It is likely that some have scoffed at the notion often repeated in prior notes that the Democrat party is now a socialist party.  Vindication comes in the form of well known Washington Post pundit, Dana Milbank.  He has reached the same conclusion.  Quote: "When Bernie Sanders launched his bid for the Democratic nomination, he was often asked whether he, a democratic socialist, would actually become a Democrat. Now, more than a year after he ignited a movement with his unsuccessful bid, that question is moot. The Democrats have become socialists.  This became official, more or less, Wednesday afternoon, when Sanders rolled out his socialized health-care plan, Medicare for All, and he was supported by 16 of his Senate Democratic colleagues who signed on as co-sponsors, including the party’s rising stars and potential presidential candidates in 2020: Elizabeth Warren. Cory Booker. Kamala Harris. Kirsten Gillibrand."    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/socialized-health-care-in-the-us-suddenly-that-sounds-a-lot-less-crazy/2017/09/13/20b88d88-98cb-11e7-82e4-f1076f6d6152_story.html?

Elected officials and unelected elitists have taken full advantage of a media manipulated, uneducated and uninformed public to get what they want...based on their cultural Marxism trial balloons resulting polling data used for political and cultural decision making.   They would prefer the Constitution did not exist. It cramps their style.  Quote: "Lack of Knowledge Is a Dangerous Thing.  In other words, Americans know too little about our Constitution to maintain the freedoms it was designed to protect. Instead, our ignorance leads us to sacrificing rights out of undue deference to majority rule.  Alexander Hamilton asserted that “Real liberty is not found in the extremes of democracy.”  America’s Constitution did not endorse majority rule. Our founders did believe in voting to select who should be entrusted with the power of government, but the more important and prior question they addressed was: “What powers do the people delegate to the federal government to exercise on their behalf?” That is why so much of the Constitution, particularly the Bill of Rights, is devoted to what the government is not allowed to do, regardless of majority sentiment. As Jefferson said, our founders fought not for democracy, but for a government “tied down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”     https://fee.org/articles/constitutional-ignorance-led-to-a-tyranny-of-the-majority/?

This is a good kind of push back. Freedom loving people should join up and do the same.  Quote: "A very brave law professor at the University of Pennsylvania, named Amy Wax has been publishing the astounding argument that human beings in America would benefit from adopting “bourgeois values” and behaving accordingly."  And, "By some miracle, she didn’t end up a professor of Intersectional Gender Justice. Of course, the Social Justice commissars around the country regard her as just another neo-Nazi punk committing violence-through-speech against the ethno-sexual minorities who seek to throw off the shackles of Cis-White Privilege oppression. In an op-ed essay in the Philadelphia Inquirer (co-authored with Larry Alexander of the University of San Diego School of Law) titled Paying the Price for Breakdown of the Country’s Bourgeois Culture, Wax argued that “the single-parent, anti-social habits, prevalent among some working-class whites, the anti ‘acting white’ rap culture of inner-city blacks” and the “anti-assimilation ideas gaining ground among some Hispanic immigrants” is not suited to a First-World 21st Century Environment."     https://www.theburningplatform.com/2017/09/18/pushback/

An item to ponder.  Quote: "Even now, the Trump Administration is working to make some of the National Security Agency’s vast spying powers permanent. In fact, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is pushing for Congress to permanently renew Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which allows government snoops to warrantlessly comb through and harvest vast quantities of our communications. And just like that, we’re back in the Village, our escape plans foiled, our future bleak. Except this is no surprise ending, as I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People: for those who haven’t been taking the escapist blue pill, who haven’t fallen for the Deep State’s phony rhetoric, who haven’t been lured in by the promise of a political savior, we never stopped being prisoners. So how do we break out? For starters, wake up. Resist the urge to comply. Think for yourself. Be an individual. As McGoohan commented in 1968, “At this moment individuals are being drained of their personalities and being brainwashed into slaves… As long as people feel something, that’s the great thing. It’s when they are walking around not thinking and not feeling, that’s tough. When you get a mob like that, you can turn them into the sort of gang that Hitler had.” We have come full circle from Bentham’s Panopticon to McGoohan’s Village to Huxley’s Brave New World.  You want to be free? Break out of the circle.  https://www.theburningplatform.com/2017/09/19/freedom-is-a-myth-we-are-all-prisoners-of-the-police-states-panopticon-village/

This is a sobering observational piece.  Quote: "Donald Trump’s presidency has been wrecked by hate groups, i.e., the liberal/progressive/left who hate the “racist, misogynist, homophobic, gun nut working class” that elected Trump (see Eric Draitser, “Why He Won,” in CounterPunch, vol. 23, No. 1, 2017). For the liberal/progressive/left Trump is an illegitimate president because he was elected by illegitimate voters. Today the American left hates the working class with such intensity that the left is comfortable with the left’s alliance with the One Percent and the military/security complex against Trump. America, the melting pot that produced a nation was destroyed by Identity Politics. Identity Politics divides a population into hate groups. This group hates that one and so on. In the US the most hated group is a southern white heterosexual male."   https://www.theburningplatform.com/2017/09/18/whatever-happened-to-america/

Patrick Buchanan nails it.  Quote: "...is the KKK of today a serious threat to civil rights? Lately, St. Louis and East St. Louis have boasted the highest murder rates in America. Is that the doing of white supremacists? This morning we read there have been so many smashed and stolen bicycles that Baltimore is canceling its Bike Share program. Did David Duke and his Klan friends steal all those bikes? Who are the ones shouting down speakers? Who violently disrupts political rallies, on campuses and off? Who engages in mob violence after almost every police shooting of a black suspect? As for interracial assaults, rapes and murders, according to FBI crime statistics, these are primarily the work of black criminals against white victims. The Justice Department should report on hate crimes by white racists. But from the stats, anti-white racism is far more common and far more manifest in crimes of violence. Who reports that truth? Are Christian supremacists murdering Muslims in Europe, or are Muslim supremacists committing acts of terrorism in Europe and conducting genocide against Christians in the Middle East? The left has been marinated in an ideology where the enemy is always to the right. People blinded by ideology, unable to see the true enemies of their civilization, end up losing it, and their lives as well."    https://www.theburningplatform.com/2017/09/19/who-truly-imperils-our-free-society/
