Items Worth Reading 2

Too many pundits hound the behavior of leaders of other nations around the world.  Russia is a particular target. Sometimes it is necessary to take a deep breath and review facts. Our house is definitely not a clean one.  Pat Buchanan lays out relevant facts.  Quote: "What are the roots of this hostility to Russia and hatred of Putin?"
This is both interesting and disturbing.  Troubling if true.  Quote: "A secretive Washington firm that commissioned the dubious intelligence dossier on Donald Trump is stonewalling congressional investigators trying to learn more about its connections to the Democratic Party. The Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this month threatened to subpoena the firm, Fusion GPS, after it refused to answer questions and provide records to the panel identifying who financed the error-ridden dossier, which was circulated during the election and has sparked much of the Russia scandal now engulfing the White House. What is the company hiding? Fusion GPS describes itself as a “research and strategic intelligence firm” founded by “three former Wall Street Journal investigative reporters.” But congressional sources says it’s actually an opposition-research group for Democrats, and the founders, who are more political activists than journalists, have a pro-Hillary, anti-Trump agenda."  And, "The real question is why anyone would take anything in the sketchy report seriously. But even the CIA gave it credence. The dossier ended up attached to a Top Secret intelligence briefing on Russia for President Obama, even though his intelligence czar last month testified “We couldn’t corroborate the sourcing.” The FBI, moreover, has been using it for investigative leads on Trump associates like Carter Page, even though former FBI Director James Comey this month described the dossier as “salacious and unverified.” And of course, Democratic leaders in Congress keep referring to it to cook up more charges against Trump, while liberal media continue to use it as a road map to find “scoops” on Trump in the “Russiagate” conspiracy they’re peddling — still hoping against hope that the central thrust of the report — that Trump entered into an unholy alliance with the Russian government during the election — will one day prove true and bring about the downfall of his presidency."    And, add to these thought the very real and well documented collusion with Russia conducted by the Clinton's.
The mainstream media will not report this but it should.  Quote: "Hypocrites in the mainstream media are hounding Donald Trump Jr. after ignoring similar–but worse–activity from the Clinton campaign. In the early days of 2016, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta, scheduled a meeting with the Chinese ambassador Cui Tiankai for an “off the record get together” to discuss the “state of US-China affairs”.   And, "All the while, the media ignores the leaked evidence of a backdoor meeting between Hillary Clinton and the Chinese government. This meeting was improper. The meeting was with a Chinese government employee (the ambassador) and was specifically intended to discuss foreign policy. Members of the Chinese government would go on to donate over $2 million to the Clinton Foundation (via CBS News).  Trump Jr. met with a private citizen to discuss an election campaign for free, while Clinton met with a government employee to discuss foreign policy for $2 million. Yet, it is the Trumps who are corrupt…"
Recent Islamic terrorists acts in Britain and across Europe are a stark reminder that this is a clear and present danger to everyone.  This item drives the point home.  Though noble in theory leftist pacifist solutions have failed repeatedly.  There is no reason to allow them to continue.  Quote: "There is nothing noble about refusing to be moved or motivated by terrorism. If a man broke into my home and assaulted my family I am not made heroic by standing in the corner and pretending that nothing has happened or pretending we’re brothers after all. In the last twenty-four hours social media has been awash with liberals appealing to images of British stoicism during the Blitz of the Second World War. Such allusions are flawed for two reasons, the first being that the stoical, ‘stiff upper lip’ Blitz narrative is nothing more than a myth and a cultural trope. The late British historian Angus Calder’s masterpiece, The Myth of the Blitz, clearly demonstrated that far from showing the British at their finest hour, the Blitz disrupted the lives and broke the will of the vast majority of Londoners, causing a quarter of the population to flee to the countryside.[1] And rather than encouraging national solidarity, both Winston Churchill and the Royal Family were booed while touring the aftermath of air-raids. If the aim of the German air raids was to instill genuine terror, weaken morale, and disrupt the life of the city, it largely succeeded in these goals. And if contemporary Britons believe that they can survive Islamic terror by appealing to a fictional ‘Blitz spirit,’ then they are horribly mistaken."   And, "A great fight lies on the horizon; one greater than any of our fathers or grandfathers could have imagined. What fate lies beyond that fight is a great and dark unknown. But we will be better to approach it headlong rather than in the manner of the sheep around us, ignorant of their own rapidly deteriorating position. If nothing else, we will be better prepared."
This man infiltrated the Muslim organization, CAIR.  He pretended to convert to Islam and learned insider details of Muslim plans.  This offers insight.  Quote:
"Everything that I have learned about Islam has come from Islamic scholars,” he said in the interview. “That’s how I learned about Islam, from going to the mosque and studying how a Muslim would study.”  And, "One hundred percent of authoritative Shariah mandates jihad until the entire planet is subjugated under Shariah. Jihad is one hundred percent defined as warfare against non-Muslims,” he said. “Now when I say warfare, I don’t just mean people who are shooting people and blowing things up. While that is horrific and barbaric, that is just one aspect of the war. From a Muslim perspective, from a Shariah perspective, jihad is total warfare. So that’s going to encompass propaganda, media manipulation, political influence operations, subversion, treason, espionage, interfaith dialogue, and yes, the kinetic aspect of the war, the physical aspect of the war, which we normally associate with jihad.” Jihad, whether through physical violence or more subtle tactics, is the duty of every Muslim, he explains."
Staying on the Islam theme, this item addresses the principle differences between Islam and Christianity.  Quote: "The essential difference between Christianity and Islam is the difference between Jesus and Muhammad. Jesus was a spiritual leader who laid down His life to save the world. Muhammad was a spiritual leader who became a political leader, then a violent military leader. Jesus accomplished His mission by dying on the cross. Muhammad accomplished his mission (at least in large part) by ruling by the sword."
In this piece by black commentator Jesse Lee Peterson offers conservatives five suggestions to combat the extreme hatred being exhibited in various ways by Democrats.  His scope is limited.  Instead they deserve consideration by all decent law abiding, fair minded and hard working Americans regardless of political affiliation.
This speaks volumes about the real liberal left.  The situation: A black NYC female cop with three kids gets assassinated by a thug.  The liberal media and political operatives are mum. Another NYC cop asks the liberal left where they are now.  He notes that if a black thug gets killed by a cop the mainstream media and liberals of all stripes go crazy.  He wants to know where is the justice in that?  He deserves an answer.
Blacks like this woman were made possible by the white led progressive movement.  Distorting truth, facts and history is no solution for anyone, any time for any reason and this example is proof positive.  The arrogance and self righteousness of this woman reflects a distorted understanding of reality promoted by progressive ideals such as the idiotic notion of white privilege, whatever that means, and promoting black lives matter antics as a legitimate form of protest. The college she worked for fired her and that was the right thing to do. Nonsense like what she spouts needs to be cleaned up and her firing was a step in the right direction.
This is an interesting assessment of what was learned from Comey's testimony.  Quote:"First of all, don’t forget that as the head of the FBI, James Comey had the power to request the appointment of a Special Counsel anytime he felt it was warranted. In fact, despite countless leaks to the press that there was evidence of collusion between members of the Trump campaign and Russia, he had informed the relevant Congressional leaders that the FBI had no such evidence after months of investigation, a concession which, unsurprisingly enough, was never, leaked.  The four Democrat leaders of the Gang of 8, which oversees the operation and knew this themselves, kept promulgating the lie that there was some such evidence. After he was fired, in an act of venomous revenge -- not atypical of the Swamp – Comey had a friend, a Columbia Law School professor, leak his version of a conversation with the president.  In this version, Trump was trying to hide the collusion by cutting off an investigation.. Why did he not simply release the memo to the press in a less cowardly fashion? Because he clearly hoped it would not be traced to him, and the motive thus made clear. Moreover, he confessed that he wanted to force the appointment of a special counsel."   And, " Interestingly enough, Comey’s testimony this week took place after he consulted with Mueller.  “Collusion” in any event is not a crime. The only evidence of "collusion with Russia" is that of Ted Kennedy, who in 1983 did try unsuccessfully to enlist the Russians to help him defeat Ronald Reagan’s re-election bidShould Mueller not quit or Rosenstein not end his appointment, anyone questioned by the special counsel or his staff ought to demand what crime is under investigation. No one should speak to any agent investigating this non-crime without counsel present and demanding that the interrogation be videotaped. The FBI refuses to allow such documentation, and as we know from the case of agent John Eckenrode in the Libby case, their notes are often in error or conveniently lost and the agent involved resigned so he cannot, as a practical matter, be  cross examined about them because of the limited discovery options to defendants.  In other words, do not fall into gentleman G.W. Bush’s trap of acting like this Mueller team is honorable or seeking to find the truth about a real crime. Chances are they are not."  And, "Perhaps instead of chasing chimeras, Congress ought to consider whether the massive spying by the Obama Administration, in violation of established law, is a better use of its resources.  Or the Obama Administration’s systemic disbanding of those units investigating Iran’s terrorism networks because it feared that might interfere with the Iran “deal.”  Maybe Congress ought to consider whether dismantling intelligence that has a better chance of scotching terrorism is more significant than listening in on the private communications of the Democrats’ opponents by the many people in the national security apparatus whose “patriotism and professionalism” are, in the words of Glenn Reynolds, “overestimated.”
