Former Pennsylvania attorney general Kathleen Kane who resigned in disgrace earlier this year was sentenced to 10 to 23 months in county jail.
Kane, who is a staunch Hillary Clinton ally, and who worked on her presidential campaign, was convicted for perjury, false swearing, obstruction of justice, official oppression and conspiracy.
The former AG had targeted a prosecutor who she thought had leaked information about her decision to drop charges against six black Democratic legislators in Philadelphia. The prosecutor, Frank Fina, is a Republican. Kane is a Democrat. She was considered a “rising star” in the party until her conviction.
Kane was endorsed for PA Attorney General by Bill Clinton in 2012. She was the first Democrat, and the first woman elected attorney general in the state. And now she’s a convicted felon.
On top of the jail time, Kane was sentenced to 8 years probation. She was led from the courtroom in handcuffs.
