A few items regarding socialism.

Here is a stark example of the consequences of leftist/socialistic policies/practices.  Quote: "Sen. Bernie Sanders, the first openly socialist U.S. presidential candidate, won't become the Democratic Party's nominee, no matter how much his supporters kick and scream about the unfair advantages awarded his chief rival for the Oval Office, Hillary Clinton.  But sometimes dreams don't come true, and for a reason: Some entity somewhere is trying to spare Sanders supporters (and the rest of the American public) the pain and agony and despair that socialism would bring to the United States.  That entity is even providing a modern-day example, if anyone at Sanders' rallies cares to take an honest look: Venezuela, a once-successful capitalistic country that has descended into an economic death spiral, thanks to more than a decade of bad, socialist government.  A pictorial report of conditions in the South American nation recently by the UK's Daily Mail should make any real fan of socialism not simply take pause, but run away as fast as they can from anyone advocating that form of government."      http://www.naturalnews.com/054177_Venezuela_healthcare_collapse_socialism.html

More consideration of the lack of wisdom when considering that socialism is the solution to all ills. Quote: "Bernie Sanders’ appeal among young people has increasingly focused on delivering the supposed benefits a socialist society can give them; free education, free health care, and a government-mandated ‘living wage.’ But his vision for a socialist utopia flies in the face of reason – and the saddening saga of socialism in Europe."    http://townhall.com/columnists/armstrongwilliams/2016/05/31/bernies-utopian-nightmare-n2171011?

This extends the above items regarding the failures of socialism and the political left's incessant drift in that direction.  Quote: "There’s a dark cloud hanging over the progressive push to turn America into a collectivist paradise.  Things are so bad in socialist Venezuela, whose economy is cratering, that even the liberal news media have taken notice.  Day after day, stories emerge from the oil-rich South American nation about power outages, bankruptcies, long lines for toilet paper, urban unrest, and now even food shortages.  Millions of Venezuelans, no longer smitten by the kind of envy-laden appeals that Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton dish up on a daily basis, are having big-time buyers’ remorse since approving Hugo Chavez’s socialist uprising back in 1998. Revolution is in the air, which is why the government of Mr. Chavez’s successor, Nicolas Maduro, is in crackdown mode. It’s what you do when you’ve lost the people after systematically looting them." http://townhall.com/columnists/robertknight/2016/05/31/envy-the-roadmap-to-ruin-n2171277?

When presidential candidate and socialist Bernie Sanders was asked a legitimate question he either could not or more likely did not want to answer it.  The reason is obvious, however.  Quote: "When asked to explain the failure of socialist governments in Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil, Sanders completely clammed up, saying he has an opinion on the subject, but was unwilling to share it, as he is “focused on my campaign.”   As an avowed socialist who wants it implemented in our country he obviously would blow all of his support if he we to answer truthfully.  Socialism never works.    http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/05/bernie_sanders_refuses_to_answer_questions_about_socialisms_failure_in_venezuela.html

If you don't believe Obama is a progressive/socialist, read this item.  He intends to implement one of the planks of the Communist Manifesto: Seize control of private lands.  Quote: "When property is owned by the state, it is referred to as public property. Public property serves important purposes in today's society; however, it can also be used to serve the interests of the powerful. When property is federalized and concentrated into the hands of the powerful, the individual ambitions of the people become stifled. When property is federalized and used for monopolistic purposes, individuals are herded and turned into serfs who must do as they are told. When property is concentrated into the control of powerful central planners, they decide what they think is best for everyone.  Today, an overwhelming amount of property in the Western United States is now owned and mismanaged by the federal government of the U.S., and is being used for international and secretive purposes (e.g. United Nations global sustainability programs, and large scale mining operations). According to statistics from TaxFoundation.org, the federal government now owns more than half of the land in the states of Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Idaho. The federal government owns over a third of the land in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming and California. This is not good use of public property. This is power unchecked – a federal government accountable to no one."      http://www.naturalnews.com/054106_Bureau_of_Land_Management_seizures_liberty.html

The nation's move to a full-on socialistic welfare state has been led by the progressive left (which includes members of both the Democrat and Republican parties).  The entire scheme is really a political one, not a rational one - pandering to government dependents at election times - espousing promises of what the welfare government will do.  The consequences are dire.  Quote: ""More 18 to 34 year-olds are living at home than any other living arrangement" because the government has supplanted the husband in the American nuclear family.  Wednesday's AT featured a blog by Rick Moran titled "More 18 to 34-year-olds are living at home than any other living arrangement," which speculated attribution of the phenomenon to later marriages in the demographic, a poor economy, and few available jobs.  But the later marriages are not a cause;  they are an effect.  The cause of the later marriages is the War on Poverty, as amply illustrated in a report by The Heritage Foundation titled "How Welfare Undermines Marriage and What to Do About It."      http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2016/05/welfare_the_handbasket_road_of_good_intentions.html

Progressive liberal Democrats and cooperative Republicans have enslaved a huge swath of Americans by their government give away programs rather than focusing on creating jobs and opportunities for working and advancing their living standards.  Welfare states are entirely government sponsored and controlled.  That is nothing short of socialism.  Their subtle intent is to create dependent subjects for political purposes.  Throughout history all such efforts always result in economic failure. Argentina is the latest example.  Instead of creating state supported dependents, here is what our government should be doing.     http://townhall.com/columnists/congressmancharlesboustany/2016/05/26/promoting-employment-for-welfare-recipients-is-true-compassion-n2169390?

This follows-up the previous items.  It is a brief tutorial on socialism.  Those in love with socialism do not know history or the facts.    http://townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/2016/05/31/socialism-for-the-

This former liberal Democrat speaks out to his former colleagues.  Quote: "I came to see a dark side to the Democratic Party that had always been there, but which I had refused to acknowledge.  Their leadership was no different than the Neo-Cons that I despised.  On top of this, many supporters of the Democratic establishment had no values and no principles.  Their only desire was to “win” at any cost.  They would get their “perfect society” at any price, even if they had to chain us all together to do it.
There was no doubt in my mind that if the Democrats reoccupied the White House or any other political power structure one day, they would immediately adopt the same exact policies and attitudes of the Neo-Conservatives, and become just as power-mad, if not more so.  In 2008 my theory was proven unequivocally correct."     http://www.thesleuthjournal.com/message-left-right-wing-extremist/
