More Random Items

This note deals with a host of random items.  The first item sets the stage for many that follow.  It deals in large measure with a historical perspective of the political machinations of various progressive presidents and supportive congresses that produced both the cultural and political chaos we now face.  The second item is a long and detailed piece that compares and contrasts Cruz and Trump.  Agree or not with the author and his conclusions, it is certainly thought provoking whether you are a Democrat or Republican.  I am neither but found it insightful.  The third addresses the losing battle to defeat the incessant march of progressivism.

Quote: "After Progressivism replaced liberalism as America’s dominant ideology, liberals faded from the scene and, like the cheetah, almost went extinct.  From 1900 through 1960, as the saying goes, all the prominent liberals in America could have fit into Murray Rothbard’s living room.  Nature abhors a vacuum so conservatism stepped into the void left by the apparent death of liberalism.  Sandwiched in between progressive Republicans Taft and Hoover were two men who could be considered conservatives in the contemporary sense: Harding and Coolidge.  Harding did cut spending and Coolidge kept spending low in his brief tenure; however, neither rolled back the basic progressive tools of the modern welfare-warfare state, the income tax and the Federal Reserve.  They created no movement and had little if any lasting influence over American politics.  The next several GOP nominees and Presidents can safely be classified as progressives: Hoover, Alf Landon, Wendell Willkie, Thomas E. Dewey, Eisenhower and Nixon."    https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/01/james-ostrowski/progressivisms-victory/

Quote:  "Electability? Increasingly, both the polls and the frantic reaction of the Hillary campaign indicate that, like with the GOP Establishment, Trump is the candidate they fear the most.   What is needed in this nation now is dramatic, even radical change. What is needed is not someone who will simply raise Hell, but someone who will be more like a bull loosed in a terrified china shop. Half measures and regular politicians, “mainstream conservatives” like Ted Cruz, I don’t think can pull it off. Trump, I believe, just maybe can."    http://www.unz.com/article/why-i-support-donald-trump-and-not-ted-cruz/

Quote: "As if the above flaws were not enough, constitutionalism has other problems insofar as it purports to be a bulwark against progressivism.  Surely, many constitutionalists believe that the constitution is a statement of various underlying objective truths about the world, human nature, government and politics.  This overlooks the fact that progressives are pragmatists, that is, folks who reject the notion that there is an objective reality outside our minds that we can know and express in words understandable to other people.  To cite a constitution to a progressive is like speaking Mandarin to a Martian or English to a wall.  It’s a pointless exercise since pragmatists reject the notion of objective truth and are solely interested in the practical consequences of ideas and words.  Thus, in the Pork Lawsuit, the five progressive judges in the majority, including two conservative Republicans, no doubt believed that state government must have the tools of economic development to compete with other states and countries that have them.  They were oblivious to whether the Constitution of 1846 was true or not.  It was, in 2011, no longer practical.  The bottom line is that the 90 percent of the public that is progressive, elected progressive governors who appointed progressive judges who gave us a progressive result, the Constitution be damned!    https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/02/james-ostrowski/defeated-progressives/

The rest of the items.

Does this make you proud of our dear leader?  It speaks volumes as who he really is.  This is tantamount to aiding and abetting the enemy...if not that one could certainly say he is consorting with the enemy.    http://www.libertynewsonline.com/articles/article_301_38251.php   I hate to say this about our president, but he acts more like a rabid Muslim than a US president.  This is totally ridiculous. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/02/obama_in_radical_mosque_calls_for_other_religions_to_be_tolerant.html

And what he does here is nothing short of criminal.  If this was not the consequence of a direct order from Obama, he is still guilty because he permits the lawlessness to take place and the consequence is he is willfully abetting harm to our country and its citizens.  Get this.  Quote: "In a shocking reversal of policy, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are being told to release illegal immigrants and no longer order them to appear at deportation hearings, essentially a license to stay in the United States, a key agent testified Thursday. What's more, the stand down order includes a requirement that the whereabouts of illegals released are not to be tracked. "We might as well abolish our immigration laws altogether," suggested agent Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council."  And, "The go free policy, he said, has prompted thousands of Latinos to cross the border, and among them are hundreds of criminal foot soldiers, according to other testimony."   http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/border-agent-we-might-as-well-abolish-our-immigration-laws-altogether/article/2582401

This article describes the attributes most Americans want in our president.  As you read it you will learn that not all candidates fit the bill, especially Hillary Clinton. http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2016/02/i_want_a_president_for_americans_who_follow_the_rules_go_to_work_and_obey_the_law.html

The word games she plays are unbelievable.  She should never set foot as a government official in any capacity in any government building, anywhere,  much less the White House.   http://hotair.com/archives/2016/01/31/video-hillary-clinton-is-finally-confronted-with-her-classified-data-non-disclosure-agreement/?    Another assessment of the criminality of this woman.  http://spectator.org/articles/65339/hillary%E2%80%99s-email-scandal-envelops-intelligence-agencies

Their lawlessness, rather their repeated flaunting of the law, make these two the leaders of the destruction of respect for our nation's laws.   Quote: "When you compare what Mrs. Clinton did with the charges brought against General David Petraeus – to which he pleaded guilty - it comes down to this: Is justice still alive in America, or do we have one system for ordinary people and those not in favor and another system for the rich and powerful?"  And, "This is the decision [FBI findings] coming soon to the desk of Attorney General Loretta Lynch as delivered in the form of a criminal case report delivered by FBI director James Comey."  And, "What will Obama say to her [Lynch]? In professional or ethical terms, he should simply tell her to follow the evidence and do her duty as she sees fit. In realistic and political terms, that is something else. Can Hillary take Obama down with her if he allows an indictment to go forward? Can she say that Obama knew about her private server all along-as he surely must have? Can she spill the beans on what Obama did and said on the night of the Benghazi attack? There are so many considerations out there." http://eaglerising.com/29512/how-barack-obama-and-hillary-clinton-are-murdering-the-american-justice-system/  One thing is for sure.  If Lynch does not issue an indictment, chaos will follow.   Here's another person, her successor, who has seriously failed the nation and sent at least one Unsecured classified email to Hillary from his Unsecured ipad.  https://pjmedia.com/trending/2016/02/01/revealed-john-kerry-sent-hillary-a-secret-email-from-his-ipad-in-2011/   The whole bunch of them should be in jail.

This is one far left billionaire criminal looking out for his crony criminal government friend.  He has in the past been indicted for criminal activities (in France) and it looks as if one of his partners in crime will soon enjoy that type of notoriety, too.   http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2016/01/29/the-voters-of-iowa-should-take-note-mark-levin-offers-his-succinct-thoughts-on-debate/

This is a country whose leaders have plenty of common sense and seem to have honest regard for their country and its people.  Meanwhile, from the President on down, our leaders are irresponsible, egocentric, self serving and routinely ignore the public in pursuit of their objectives.  This item puts the differences on full display.  http://beforeitsnews.com/politics/2016/02/iceland-forgives-entire-populations-debt-mainstream-us-media-silent-2775542.html

There is a reason why so many Americans are angry.   http://spectator.org/articles/65385/anger-makes-total-sense

How is this representative of the progressive/liberal/Democrat's self declared vaunted sense of fairness?  It is another overbearing mandate by government on private enterprise. Funny isn't it the before the government started imposing itself in the economy it was doing pretty well.  No more. This "great" idea in noting but another socialistic bad idea to take over anything and everything in our nation increasingly socialistic economy.  As if it is not already bad enough thanks to these type of foolish and destructive policies.  And tell me this.  When was the last time the government showed a propensity for fairness in the way it treats people who disagree with it's policies?  This is nothing more than promoting the interests of one favored government special interest group over another.  It completely ignores the right of business owners to make hiring, firing and compensation decisions.   It is after all HIS business into which HE vested HIS interests, energy and resources. It does not belong to the government. The government has NO business messing as it now does with private enterprise and mandating the policies that pick winners and losers in the game of life.   http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/02/new_obama_regulation_white_males_lose_lawyers_and_democrats_win.html

Now read this.  If you don't think the federal government is a ravenous, out of control, monster bent on controlling every aspect of our lives, you are wrong.  Quote:

  • "Environmentalist lawyers have been pushing a legal theory that would give the Environmental Protection Agency cover to regulate every facet of state energy policy — effectively eliminating states’ authority to craft their own regulations. “Buried in the Clean Air Act is an extremely powerful mechanism that effectively gives EPA carte blanche to tell states to make drastic cuts to their emissions,” Brian Potts, a partner at the law firm Foley & Lardner wrote in Politico Monday."   http://www.cfact.org/2016/02/04/climate-change-lawyers-quietly-lay-groundwork-for-epa-takeover-of-us-energy/?   This authority of the Executive cannot be found anywhere in the Constitution.  Congress has passed laws that usurp their own responsibilities and those of the states and the Supreme Court has passively allowed these violations to stand. The consequence:  Checks and balances the Constitution established have been neutered and we now have a supreme executive gone amuck. That is exactly what the Founders did not want but feared in time would happen.  So it has.
From a policy perspective Bernie Sanders reminds us that the political left thinks the idea of a family unit is so old fashioned.  He, like so many progressives and liberal Democrats, think all children belong to the state.  Remember Hillary Clinton's book "It takes A Village"?  She contends that the government led village rather than parents need to raise children.  Those who hold family values dear should run from those holding Bernie's view as fast as they can because socialist/leftist policies do not rhyme with family values.  Don't think so?  Examine the welfare state and IRS governing rules.  http://www.redstate.com/2016/01/30/bernie-sanders-trash-talks-repubs-love-families-cant-stop-talking-families-um-burn/?   But that is just one destructive component of the political progressive/social Democrat left.  Here is another really bad ingredient in their devious bag of tricks.  http://eaglerising.com/29376/the-problem-with-socialism-math/    Here is another reason to be concerned about Hillary's candidacy.    http://www.theblaze.com/contributions/how-a-turkish-clerics-network-has-penetrated-the-clinton-campaign-and-american-education/

This Oklahoma University professor explains, in part, the reason so many Americans, especially young people support Bernie Sanders. Quote: "David Deming is an arts and sciences professor at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, and he is not like the person most of us imagine when we think of the modern American professor. No, Professor Deming isn’t a fascist brown-shirt who wants to shut down free speech, thought and opinion on the campus. He’s not an outspoken socialist who seeks to ridicule and berate his conservative students into silence. He’s not a militant atheist who openly mocks and derides his Christian students. Professor Deming believes that the college classroom is place for debate and open-mindedness."  And here is a quote from an op-ed he recently wrote, "Socialism isn't so much a legitimate economic system as it is a moral failing. It will always exist because ignorant people will always want something for nothing. If we want to retain our freedom and prosperity, then we must educate our children that the purpose of government is to secure liberty, not provide free lunches."  You might want to read the entire op-ed at the link at the end of this article. http://eaglerising.com/29601/professor-explains-young-voters-attraction-bernie-sanders-proves-american-education-system-failed/

This is an excellent review of the President's blindness (and that of Islamic apologists of all stripes) to the dangers of scriptural Islam.  Quote: "The Obama administration has thoroughly politicized national security (just as it has politicized law enforcement and most everything else), so I would not disappoint you by saying the president’s approach to “violent extremism” is all ideology and no cynicism. By bleaching out the ideological catalyst for mass-murder attacks and attributing them to “extremism” without acknowledging what the killers are extreme about, Obama promotes an ugly moral equivalence between jihadists and his political opposition, whose members are habitually smeared as “extremists.” It is no surprise that, while unable to bring itself to concede that the Fort Hood massacre was a jihadist attack, the Obama administration was issuing Homeland Security Department memos that profiled conservatives and U.S. soldiers returning from war as potential violent extremists."   https://pjmedia.com/andrewmccarthy/2015/12/22/obamas-denial-of-the-jihads-ideological-roots-gravely-endangers-the-nation/    Here is an assessment of McCarthy's piece and added thoughts.  http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2015/12/obamas_denial_of_theological_roots_of_islamic_terror_endangers_the_nation.html

Do you still believe Obama when he lies to us about how great the economy has done under his disastrous leadership?  Quote: "The U.S. has fallen from the 6th freest economy in the world, when President Barack Obama took office, to 11th place in 2016. America’s declining score in the index is closely related to rapidly rising government spending, subsidies, and bailouts."     http://dailysignal.com/2016/01/31/americas-economic-freedom-has-rapidly-declined-under-obama/
