Matters Of Race

The Civil Rights movement championed by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. (a Republican) fostered a period of improving race relations following his untimely death at the hands of an assassin.  Many blacks benefitted from the resulting improving opportunities but many more have not.  The political left has incessantly demonized Conservatives and Republicans as being racists and charge that it is they who caused the resurgence of racism.  An honest review of history yields a different reality.  The fact is that government instituted many programs that have been detrimental to blacks.  In effect these programs did more harm than good as confirmed by multitudes of studies.  An overview of study results can be derived from this National Policy Center For Public Policy Research item.  Every person in the piece is black.  One quote synopsizes their point: "The disastrous effects of the government's management of anti-poverty initiatives are recognizable across racial lines, but the destruction is particularly evident in the black community. It effectively subsidized the dissolution of the black family by rendering the black man's role as a husband and a father irrelevant, invisible and — more specifically — disposable. The result has been several generations of blacks born into broken homes and broken communities experiencing social, moral and economic chaos. It fosters an inescapable dependency that primarily, and oftentimes solely, relies on government to sustain livelihoods."   http://www.nationalcenter.org/P21PR-WarOnPoverty_010814.html  There are many more resources dealing with the issue.  Many blacks benefitted from both improved conditions and opportunities but the sad reality is that many more are now in effect wards of the government.  It is unfortunate that both political parties are afraid to deal with egregious government created problems.  It is real people who suffer the consequences of government sanctioned mistakes.

This item is on target.  Regarding the President Obama's admonition of Christianity, "As WND reported, among the many Christian leaders outraged by the president’s comments, one Catholic leader called for Obama to apologize, pointedly noting that the Inquisition was political, and the Crusades were a defensive effort against jihad."  And, "It was evangelical Christians who fought slavery and Jim Crow. It was William Wilberforce who led the campaign against slavery. It was [Reverend] Martin Luther King who fought (segregation.).”     http://www.wnd.com/2015/02/committed-christian-obamas-religious-history-unmasked/
