United Nations Goes After US Constitution's Second Amendment

In past emails I have shared items that describe the intrusiveness of the UN into the affairs of nation states across the globe.  The mechanism used has been to obtain commitments from member nations who sign on to varying UN authored conventions and treaties.  These documents are supposedly non-binding but do serve to bring international pressure on signatories to adopt laws that implement these agreements.  The US has signed a number of such documents and enacted legislation implementing some if not all provisions.

This link touches on just one of them - one that seeks to eviscerate our Second Amendment.  As the author says "The United Nations...does not believe citizens should be empowered to protect themselves, either from criminals or government.t"  Take note of the UN's dictatorial attitude in this quote.  "A United Nations committee charged with enforcing the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights has come down hard on the United States for “gun violence,” code for the right to own firearms guaranteed by the Second Amendment, and a raft of other issues."   I urge everyone who reads this note and become educated on the incessant and ever increasing UN encroachment on sovereign nations and their customs and laws.  As you know NO ONE in the UN from top to bottom is an elected official of the nation they supposedly serve.  Much of the work coming out of the UN is the product of dozens and dozens of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) funded by wealthy special interests.  Consider the following general information:

1.  A large percentage of member states, even those receiving US foreign aid, vote against US interests.   http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2013/09/the-united-states-30-years-of-voting-in-the-united-nations-general-assembly

2.  The US is the largest funder of the UN by far, paying at least 22% of its operating budget and 25% of its peacekeeping budget.    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/us-taxpayers-will-continue-pay-more-one-fifth-un-budget

So, we have an unelected international bureaucracy (UN) largely funded by the US attempting to force its will on the people of the world.  Member states routinely vote contrary to US interests, and NGOs work on many, many programs also contrary to US interests.  This current attempt to eviscerate the Second Amendment is just one example of bad, very bad development in a long series of actions contrary to our Constitution and national interests.  The UN takes our money and all the while actively seeks to have us turn over our right of self determination to an unelected/non-representational international body comprised of the relatively few free nations we call friends compared to a plethora of rogue nations that largely oppose almost everything we hold dear.   http://www.teaparty.org/united-nations-attacks-second-amendment-36934/
