Obama's Secretive Free Trade Dealings...Important

I have in the past shared information regarding the various "free" trade deals that the government is negotiating with Pacific Rim nations and the European Union.  Public information released in trickle fashion suggests, despite the results of past such deals, that these are good deals.  Given past failures to live up to hyped pre-passage promises we should be wary of what we are now being told.  This article provides an update. 

In February, the Open the Government organization sent a letter to Obama blasting the lack of transparency surrounding the TPP talks, stating the negotiations have been “conducted in unprecedented secrecy.”

 It highlights the fact that negotiations are highly secretive and that the Obama administration alone is involved in the negotiations...Congress and the people have absolutely no voice in an action that could well have a profound affect on our future.  Even the left leaning Nation magazine reports that the deals are "...less about reducing tariffs and more about weakening the power of average citizens to defend themselves against corporate labor and environmental abuses."  History suggests this is a bad, bad, bad deal being made worse by Obama's demands that the deal be fast tracked so the House and Senate will be denying them time necessary to properly evaluate its impacts (Obamacare all over again) and opportunity to enact any needed amendments.  It is time to hound your elected representatives!!!  They must take strong and immediate measures to cut off Obama's lone ranger effort which, if he pulls it off, will likely make all of his many past failures seem small in comparison.
