The most recent jobs report released by the government claims that the
unemployment picture "steadied" in June with the unemployment rate
remaining at 7.6%. This was suppose to make everyone feel good about
the economy and offered hope for future job growth. But, the author of
this article, citing others as well as numbers in the report which were
conveniently ignored by the usual suspect government spokespersons,
reporters and pundits. Had they been more industrious in examining the
data they would have arrived in a much different place. For example,
the government numbers did not tout the fact that "While it’s true that
job growth was robust, it came from the growth of PART-TIME jobs, which
are the only kind available. On a net basis, the economy lost 326,000
fulltime jobs." That looks to me like an economy, at least for job
seekers, that is going backwards. Read here for more analysis.
