An Instructive Court Case

This is a sad representation of individualism vs. collectivism.  It reflects the shifting nature of our culture.  Prominent people, politicians, even presidents adhering to progressive ideals insert themselves into events that promote their respective viewpoints/agenda without regard for facts.  Others do too but it seems especially so with progressives.

Honesty/integrity in the mainstream media is hard to find so the progressive agenda often trumps truth in reporting.  Indeed, the mainstream media follow the lead of prominent progressives and help promote their agenda.  That is because, as poll after poll establishes, members of the mainstream media are predominantly progressives themselves.  It is no accident then that they either do not see that much of their reporting is propaganda or they wantonly engage in the practice since they agree with its message.  Truth in reporting is out; bias is in.

Back to the first sentence.  A main ingredient in the progressives overall agenda is that the collective (groups) are more important than individuals even though a quick reading of the Constitution reveals that individuals and their respective rights are its focus.  No mention is made of collectivists or group rights.  The below links provides just one of many examples that provide a representation of where modern culture has adopted the notion that collectivism is good/right, individualism is bad/wrong.  The point being, as the links illustrates, is that because the people involved represent two different ethnic groups the "interests" of the individual who happens to be in the progressives favored group takes precedence over the "rights" of an individual in a non-favored group, the facts be damned. In this specific case the jury determined based on the facts that the defendant was not guilty of wantonly murdering a member of a different race (group).  But, killed in self defense.  Given my understanding of the facts, the jury rendered the right verdict. However, the outcome was a shock to the progressive mindset and already progressives and members of the favored group are up in arms.  Let's hope that things (emotions) calm down and sanity (acceptance of facts) prevails.  I fear that may not be the case - see links 2-4.  It is time we as a nation stop allowing group "interests" to prevail over individual "rights" and return to having respect for truth and justice.
