ATI plans to lay off 172 workers in North Richland Hills

ATI Schools & Colleges plans to lay off 172 employees by Dec. 31, according to notices sent to the Texas Workforce Commission last week.
ATI is laying off 122 people at its home office at 6331 Boulevard 26 in North Richland Hills, according to an Oct. 31 letter citing the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988. That notice explains that ATI has decided to reduce its workforce at that location.
An additional 50 people are expected to be laid off from ATI Career Training Center No. 30, at nearby 6351 Boulevard 26, according to a second notice sent to the state.
"All positions and jobs at the facility will be eliminated," stated the notice, signed by Steve Lovig, vice president for human resources and benefits. "It is anticipated that 50 employees will be affected by the closure."
Lovig was unavailable for comment Tuesday.
Mark Lavergne, spokesman for the Texas Workforce Commission, said in an e-mail that the agency has been communicating with ATI management to make sure that the impact on students is minimal. The state also wants to make sure that students can complete their training or receive refunds.
"Ensuring that students can complete their training or get their money back is a top priority for TWC,"
