GREECE spiralled closer to the euro exit
yesterday as it faced a budget shortfall of 20 billion euros
(£16billion) – twice that earlier feared.
The colossal deficit means it won’t be allowed its next chunk of a European bailout needed to keep it afloat.
Greece can only get the next £25billion slice of the overall £138billion rescue package when the deficit gap is closed.
But initial findings by the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund – the “troika” – suggest Greece is plunging further into debt.
Greece could run out of money next month.
Its only option would be to bring back the drachma.
Ukip leader Nigel Farage said:
“In the end they will have to face it, Greece will have to leave the euro.”
